Kyanite
Kyanite is often an overlooked beauty in the gem world. The deep indigo blue rivals the beauty of a sapphire, and we LOVE the teal variety, when we're lucky enough to find them!
Kyanite is an aluminum silicate mineral that has a reputation of being difficult to facet because of its perfect cleavage and variable hardness, even within the same crystal.
According to Mohs hardness scale, this gemstone ranges from 4 - 7; the wide range depends on how the gemstone is cut. Faceted kyanites are appealing to collectors of unusual gems or just enthusiasts of the art of gem cutting because of the challenges their structuring presents.
These gems can occur in many other colors, including green, pink, yellow, and orange but the blue and teal varieties remain among the favorites.
Kyanite has a calming effect on the whole being, bringing tranquility. Emily is drawn to Kyanites in the Deep blue or vibrant Teal variety and loves finding specimens with unique black inclusions.
