Chalcedony
Chalcedony is the form of Quartz that is compact microcrystalline and is found in all types of colors, and its varieties are named based on color. The classic Chalcedony is the source of a host of different gemstones; some examples of the varieties are Agate, Aventurine, Bloodstone, Carnelian, Chrysoprase, Jasper, Onyx, Sard and Sardonyx, and Tigers Eye.
In the gem trade, the name Chalcedony usually refers to a translucent stone with solid pale colors such as blue, violet and white, to distinguish it from the multicolored variety.
Chalcedony gemstones are rated about 7 on the Mohs hardness scale meaning they are durable enough to be used in almost any type of jewelry you choose.
